Since Reece was in middle school he has been running and pushing himself. He always tried to be as prepared as possible on race day by getting up early and putting in miles before the sun would break the tree line in the small East Texas town of his youth. However, he isn't perfect and made mistakes.
What he learned from endurance sports and the adversities he faced was that he and everyone else should relentlessly strive to exceed even our own expectations. To do that means that we have to own our failures. Failure happens and it doesn't have to be debilitating. The best way to learn from failure is to own it, pivot, and press on.
At a school that lacked comradery and student pride, Reece changed his environment. He re-instated a community service organization Project Blinn and identified 11 equally servant-minded students. Despite multiple service project proposal denials, the organization was able to meet in person and donate refreshments to thank local healthcare workers for their service. The club is still active today.
After a few months selling in the retail space, Reece found he didn't want to go back to work only to hear more customers tell him "no". However, he found that through a disciplined routine and reminding himself that he was helping his customers, he loved his work again.
Currently, Reece is preparing for a marathon on October 21st, 2023. He spent part of his summer getting ready for a half marathon that took place on August 8th. Follow along with his training plan below.
